Unit 2013 is an insane robot admitted to HAL Institute for believing that he is a human. At the asylum, he made good friends with Philip J. Fry who was diagnosed for the same reasons.
The only difference is that Fry is actually a human, and Unit 2013 isn't. While deluded, Unit 2013 is perfectly friendly and sociable and seems no worse for his insanity.
